Patient Triage Specialist - CMA/RMA or LPN - Full Time - Patient Services

Responsible for triaging patient phone calls and assisting with medical questions, prescription refills, and appointment scheduling. This position is also responsible for assisting with reports and processing medical records requests and referrals. The hours for this position are 12pm-8pm Monday-Thursday. Holidays are included, and are time and a half.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Complies with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
Provides basic patient care as ordered.
Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Knowledge of basic nursing principals and protocols.
Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.
Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques.
Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods.
Ability to work effectively as team members with physicians and other staff.
Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff and others.
Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
Ability to communicate clearly.

Education and Work Experience:

High school graduation or GED
Graduate of medical assisting program preferred.
Minimum of two year work experience in public contact job, preferably medical office environment.

CERTIFICATE AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

Maintains CPR certification
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant certification required or State Licensed LPN.
